The Entertainment Industry Is Going Through A Sea Change

A lot of changes are happening in the entertainment industry. The entertainment needs of the people are also changing. A few years back, people seemed to have more time to spend in front of the television. These days, people prefer entertainment on the move. This has changed many of the television programs to be made into smaller segments that people can watch on their IPod’s and other hand held devices.
Many of the people who used to watch television are now hooked on to the internet and the amount of money that is being spent by advertisers on the internet is very high. This is mainly because of the fact that there is a huge traffic to many of the sites that are in the internet. These sites that provide entertainment through the availability of games and also various other videos are the most sought after by people.

Facebook is one of the sites that have become hugely popular because of the chance of networking socially. There are also several social games that are available on this site. This has got many people playing the games too. As these kinds of entertainment have become popular, the regular entertainment methods are either becoming obsolete or they are not interesting people.

All these facts have made the entertainment industry to undergo a sea change. This has made many people who provide entertainment to tap the available resources and create newer methods of entertainment. There are several sites on the internet that are cropping up for specific needs of the people. There are social networking sites dedicated to specific communities and there are others that are trying to follow the Facebook method of social gaming. Though the changes are happening, there is still a loyal fan base following the traditional methods of entertainment that are available.

Art or Entertainment

There is a certain joy in creating and viewing art. To each person it seems different of course. One man’s art is another man’s artistic disaster. That is the beauty though isn’t it? That is what makes art personal. Whether it is art on canvas or art that is written or art that is performed, it is an expression of the soul. To the creator it holds one meaning, but it holds many meanings, depending on the spectator.

Painting, sculpture, writing, poetry, music, dance, acting…the list goes on. Each category has sub-categories. More sub-categories are created every once in a while…music certainly being the best example with all of its genres and sub-genres. To each artist though, it is something magical what he or she does. The feeling of holding a paintbrush to a painter is a feeling of subtle power, the power to visualize anything. The feel of the steel and wood on a guitar is fine silk to a guitarist. It is like going home and being absolutely relieved for it. There is one common feeling between creator and spectator though. The spectator feels it when he/she gets to see the final product and is struck with awe. If any kind of art has ever moved you to smiles, laughter, anger, tears or all of the above i.e., .mission accomplished.

That feeling might be rarer nowadays in the terms of it being generated de novo. Old art still gets to you. When it comes to music or performance-writing, it doesn’t strike those chords as often. Perhaps some of us are just too old? Now it is not to say that new art does not happen anymore. Once in a while we are moved once again, and it brings a smile to our face when it does. Art is not dead, though some might argue otherwise. We just need to keep our eyes, ears and most importantly our minds and hearts open to it.
