FOR LOW INCOME COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The Coalition for Low Income Community Development (CLICD) is a coalition of grassroots and national groups organized to ensure that low income people benefit from community planning and development programs. CLICD's mission is to improve low income groups' access to funds for community revitalization and to implement model community planning processes. Our special expertise is community-based planning and community mapping using geographic information system (GIS) software.

With millions of housing and community development dollars at stake, community leaders and the low income people they represent must help set local priorities and play a part in funding decisions. CLICD assists in this process by providing the training, capacity-building, and services that communities need to engage in real community planning, analysis, and organizing that results in more opportunities for people to have a safe, affordable place to live.

The goal of our work is to improve a low income community's ability to engage in ongoing planning for the use of housing and community development funds and implement effective projects and programs. The work of CLICD brings together the power of new information technologies and traditional community organizing to the field of housing and community development.
